Graduates will be employed within residential retrofit “One Stop Shops” or with SME’s providing services within the residential sector and contributing to the target to renovate 500,000 buildings by 2030 in Ireland.
The programme covers three main topics:
The programme includes topics of building fabric, building systems and finance circular management. Each topic covers the understanding of energy efficiency related to the retrofitting of residential buildings and the use of sustainable materials and products.
Part time over 3 semesters (1.5 years)
An honours degree (level 8) in a cognate (e.g. Engineering, Architecture, Building Services, Construction Management etc.) discipline or approved equivalent qualification
or
A level 7 qualification in a cognate discipline (e.g. Engineering, Architecture, Building Services, Construction Management etc.,) or approved equivalent qualification, with 1-year relevant work experience.
Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)/Special Case Registrations: Prospective participants who do not meet the entry requirements for the programme detailed above, but who may qualify for admission by meeting certain other equivalent criteria, should submit their application online, upload their most relevant qualifications and then email flexible.midwest@tus.ie to request RPL consideration.
English Language; Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a minimum score of 5.5 in an IELTS exam is required. For postrgraduate course, a minimum of 6.0 is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.

Semester 1; Tue 7pm to 9pm & Thurs 6.30pm to 8.30pm plus 3 site visit TBC
Semester 2: Tue 6.30pm to 7.30pm & Thurs 6.30pm to 8.30pm plus 3 site visits TBC
Semester 3: Tue 6.30pm to 7.30pm & Thurs 6.30pm to 8.30pm plus 3 site visits TBC
Further Study Opportunities
On successful completion of the Higher Diploma in Residential Energy Retrofit Management (Level 8) programme students may apply for Level 9 qualifications in the field of engineering as appropriate and available with TUS. Students can also consider applications to L9 programmes in other HEIs and also consider potential research post-graduate opportunities.
