ICMS And Whole Life Carbon Assessment (5 ECTS)

The International Cost Management Standard, ICMS, has been adopted by the Office of Government Procurement for all construction projects. ICMS3 has introduced Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) as a fundamental component of construction measurement. Accurate generation of carbon assessments remains a challenging domain. This program will provide learners with solid foundation of the principles of WLCA using BIM, as well as the requirements, rules and techniques necessary for the ICMS implementation.

BIM And ICMS For Quantity Surveyors (5 ECTS)

The International Cost Management Standard, ICMS, is adopted by the Office of Government Procurement for all construction projects. This programme, aimed at construction professionals, is designed to provide learners with key knowledge and insights necessary for its successful adoption. Learners will be provided with key insights into the standard, along with its relevance to ARM4 and other measurement standards currently used. Enabled by Building Information Modelling, ICMS is a fundamental and long-reaching change in how construction measurements are carried out and reported. This programme will enable construction professionals to transition successfully to this new way of working.

Topics include:

1. Identifying the key drivers of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the International Cost Management Standard (ICMS)
2. Creating BIM Information requirements to support ICMS quantities
3. Understanding the key concepts of BIM and ISO19650 in the context of building quantities
4. Developing an LCA model of a built asset in line with the principles of ICMS3
5. Understanding the environmental and legal framework surrounding Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) and Whole Life Costing (LCA)
6. Demonstrating a clear understanding of the data requirements and data sources used in WLCA and WLC
7. Creating WLC and WLCA documentation per Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RCIS) and the International Cost Management Standard (ICMS)
