Certificate in Near Zero Energy Building (nZEB) Training (Train the Trainer)

Overview:

This is a Train the Trainer programme delivered in a blended learning format over 4 modules, incorporating a ‘flipped classroom’ approach at NFQ level 7 with a total of 20 ECTS credited. It is only open to specific trainers.

This programme is aimed at educators and trainers who are involved with existing apprenticeships relevant to the building fabric and buidling services of new and retrofitted buildings, but also suitable for all trainers in the construction industry. This will enable existing and new trainers to understand the relevance and importance of NZEB, the “what”, the “why” and the “what if” and how to transfer knowledge using innovative pedagogical approaches. Module resources are transferrable to other programmes within the DASBE remit.

Each module will be divided into 3 units covering specific topics and it is intended that a guest speaker will introduce and discuss an interesting innovative topic relevant to the module. For the first 3 modules, a site/field visit is to be incorporated to follow each workshop day as appropriate to the module subject matter, including surveys of existing dwellings for simulated Building Energy Rating (BER) surveys, visit to a bespoke energy training facility (WWETB) and to a NZEB development or building. It is intended that this will be 100% assessment, with 20 hours workload and additional independent reading per week.
