Congratulations to our partner, the Irish Green Building Council (IGBC) and the rest of the consortium on the success of the National Construction Centre coordinated by NUI Galway and funded by Enterprise Ireland. The goal of the Construction Technology Centre is to make Ireland’s construction sector a global leader in research and innovation.

The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar TD, announced funding of €5 million, over 5 years, for the establishment of a Construction Technology Centre to accelerate research and innovation within the construction and built environment sector.

The goal of the Construction Technology Centre is to make Ireland’s construction sector a global leader in research and innovation. It brings together 22 multidisciplinary research groups across five institutions, including TCD, UCD, UCC and NUIG with over 300 active researchers delving into topics related to construction and the built environment. These research groups, with main expertise in areas of sustainability, digital adaptation, and modern methods of construction, have been organized under five pillars including: Sustainability; Productivity, Affordability and Cost; Quality and Safety; Skills and Training; and Collaboration.

IGBC is the industry partner for the Construction Technology Centre and IGBC’s 300 strong membership will be providing the consortium with insights into what industry needs, participating in working groups and research. The Construction Technology Centre supports the Irish construction industry with technological, business, and intellectual property solutions. The new Construction Technology Centre explores current, emerging, and future innovations and technology needs to lead the Irish construction sector into the direction of sustainable, high quality, and innovative advancements.
