The recently published “Green Public Procurement (GPP) Strategy and Action Plan 2024-2027” has an important role in contributing to national climate targets.
It has particular relevance to the construction sector, where the public sector has substantial leverage to promote and encourage the supply of more resource-efficient and low-carbon materials.

DASBE partner Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) has micro credentials on Green Public Procurement starting in September 2024, that have an 80% fee subsidy for eligible learners. These courses aim to upskill professionals working specifically in the field of green procurement in the built environment, who have roles in applying efficient Green Procurement criteria and standards.

These micro-credentials are the Fundamentals of Green Procurement in Construction which covers drivers for GPP, legal aspects, awarding criteria as well as verification.

The Green Procurement Digital Tools in Construction course focuses on the principles of Life Cycle Assessment and Life Cycle Costing as well as looking a BIM and other digital tools that can support GPP.

Both these courses provide a strong foundation for any professional who has a role in procurement in the built environment and are starting this September. Applications close on August 11 2024.
